Visuals to Die for in Momom by Oh Hyuk and Cifika.

The lead singer of Korean indie rock band Hyukoh has teamed up with underground electronic princess Cifika to create perfect, brilliant visuals in Momom music video.

I really try to mix things up and write about a wide range of artistic forms of expression. I guess the biggest challenge lies in writing about something other than K-pop music videos – but it’s not my fault the Korean music scene is so damn innovative. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Momom is a song by Oh Hyuk, the lead singer in Hyukoh (which I wrote about here), and Cifika, one of my favourite human beings ever. Go ahead and watch the Momom music video below if you wish to get floored by their aesthetic!

Aesthetic Bliss by Barcelona Based Artist Carlota Guerrero.

Barcelona based artist and art director Carlota Guerrero is in my opinion one of our time’s greatest treasures. Her Instagram is a literal dream and everything she touches turns to aesthetic bliss.

I came across Carlota Guerrero through her art directive work on Solange’s album A Seat at the Table. Since then I’ve been mesmerised by everything she does. It’s all so in tune with nature, politics, history and technology.

Below is a compilation of some of Gurerrero’s recent work. Ugh it’s so beautiful.

Nike’s Logo + Neoclassical Art = Swoosh Art.

Swoosh Art is the type of art I am here af for. I truly believe masters wanted the Nike logo incorporated into their art when painting their Madonnas and goddesses. They just did’t know it yet.

Swoosh Art is a tumblr page run by award-winning fashion film director Davide Bedoni. In his words Swoosh Art “is what I do when I am bored.”

Placing the so-called Nike ‘swoosh’ in 18th and 19th century masterpieces may seem like a way to emphasise the absurdities of commercialism. But to me this is about creating a connection between visual propaganda of the past with visual propaganda of today. Although these paintings might seem like harmless decorations, they were more often than not commissioned to propagate the message of a social, political or religious conviction.

And besides, who knew that Jacques-Louis David’s iconography would be such an aesthetic match with Carolyn Davidson’s logo-design?

Parekh and Singh – Indian Indie Pop with a Wes Anderson Aesthetic.

The music video to ‘I Love You Baby, I Love You Doll’ by Parekh & Singh is everything I have ever wanted and more. A combination of India and Wes Anderson-aesthetics? Yes please!

The Kolkata based indie pop band Parekh & Singh consists of musicians Nischay Parekh and Jivraj Singh. The music video to  ‘I Love You Baby, I Love You Doll’ was shot on a budget of just US$5000! Consequently the duo had to DIY location scouting and art direction themselves. This Wes Anderson inspired music video is such an Internet gem!
